WHO IS JESUS?

Hey guys and welcome back to Daily Manner daily. Last week there was a bit of a complication when it came to writing the article, so it was best to postpone it till the next week. Today we are asking who Jesus Christ is and what was his purpose.
Some called him a glutton and a drunk. Others called him possessed or son of Satan. To many more, he was the son of David, messiah or GOD himself. Jesus is and was so many things to so many people, but who was this man that managed to become even more popular after death and after so many years. Some people struggle in their faith because they are not clear on who Jesus is; is he GOD or just HIS son, is he just a prophet or so much more than that.

If we’re going to dive into who Jesus is, we need to start from where he is first mentioned, and that is Isaiah 7:14. Jesus is first mentioned in the Old Testament as a prophecy, there are many prophecies that were mentioned throughout Isaiah alone and fulfilled in the New Testament, but we’d be here till tomorrow if we were to go through them all. GOD knew that he wanted to send Jesus to earth but he asked the prophet Isaiah and Ahaz to request a sign for when he was here and of course it was something impossible to not only show the power of GOD but to be sure any regular person couldn’t claim to be the Messiah. All the Jews believed in the prophecies Isaiah had said, they patiently waited for the one who would make the deaf hear and the blind see, but when he did come they accused him of doing the work of the devil. Isaiah 53:1-12 tells us all about the suffering Jesus was to experience and how he had troubles, but it also tells us “He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” It was long ago written about the life Jesus was to have; they all memorised the lines but didn’t realise they were living out the prophecy to the last detail. Jesus’ main purpose was to suffer as ‘it was The LORD’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief’, but this was all for us, so that we may have a chance to join The FATHER after death and be considered righteous and this made Jesus satisfied.
Now, I know a topic that many find confusing, and that’s whether Jesus was GOD or not, well the answer is yes and no. Think of your DNA, you get half from your mum and the other half from your dad, some people may say you are half of your mum and half of your dad. Now Jesus doesn’t have a mum biologically, yes Mother Mary did give birth to Him, but they shared no DNA all his DNA came from GOD making Jesus 100% GOD. There wasn’t just a part of GOD in Jesus, all of GOD was in Jesus.

We all know Jesus was and is loving, he didn’t come to condemn the sinners but to set them free. He healed the sick and advocated for the weak and weary. I think one of my favourite bible verse about Jesus was john 4:7-30, He speaks to the Samaritan woman with such gentleness and doesn’t persecute her what for her lifestyle, he instead tells her he is the Messiah she’s been waiting for. This is usually the side of Jesus people like to remember, the side that told people not to judge, but we mustn’t forget the hatred he felt towards sin. The sweet baby in a manger is the same man who whipped people in the temple for turning his FATHER’s house into a seller’s market and called the pharisees children of Satan. This wasn’t him picking and choosing which sins He liked but he knew people were failing due to the sins of their heart and he wanted to expose the false righteousness.
Yes Jesus is a comforter, a friend and the good shepherd, but people often forget the Lordship and sovereignty He carries. When we are talking about Jesus, we have to remember this is the same man whose cousin was not worthy to untie his shoes (Luke 3:16). This is the same Jesus who John saw ‘coming on a white horse with eyes of fire and on his head were many crowns’ (revelation 19:12). We need to drop the over familiarity we have towards Jesus because were not talking about Mary and Joseph’s son, or just a prophet, we are talking about a Jesus who is sitting on the right hand of GOD.
